US, Internal forces kill dozens of Afghan civilians in nationwide raids: Taliban

Kabul, May 12 (Sputnik/UNI) The chief spokesman of the Taliban militant movement, Zabihullah Mujahid, accused "American invaders" and their supporters in Afghanistan on Sunday of killing and injuring dozens of civilians in their recent raids across the country.

"At around 11 p.m. last night [18:30 Saturday GMT], a raid was carried out on Dalil and Khano villages of Shilgar district, Ghazni province, during which they ransacked homes, stole valuables and later ruthlessly executed six innocent civilians ... who were all ordinary laborers. Moreover, a raid was also carried out on Yakhshi village of Khwaja Umari district [in Ghazni], during which they blew up gates of homes, stole valuables, beat up villagers and took away the local mosque imam," Mujahid said in a statement.

He added that "the so-called commando forces" had shot dead one more civilian in Ghazni as they had been indiscriminately shooting at residents of the villages of Spinda and Jabbarwalo.

"A similar overnight raid was carried out on a village in Loe Qachi area of Kunduz [provincial] capital, where they broke down gates of homes with explosives and stole valuables before taking away four students of a religious seminary and six local villagers. A raid was also carried out on Reigan Manda area of Qala-e-Gaz region in Gereshk district, Helmand province, during which they looted homes and local shops, severely beat up locals, torched three private vehicles and multiple shops and took away three shop owners as captives," Mujahid went on to say.

All these raids came soon after airstrikes had targeted a civilian van in the eastern Afghan Paktika province and left 15 civilians dead, Mujahid recalled.
"These war crimes are taking place against the Afghan people as all human right organizations have adopted the role of spectators. The Afghan nation is a witness to all these crimes and oppression by the invaders and the domestic enemies and shall take revenge for each and every loss," he added.

Afghanistan is suffering from an unstable political, social and security situation due to the activity of the Taliban movement and the Islamic State terrorist group (banned in Russia). The national security forces are involved in anti-terrorist operations across the country.
