Twelve Afghan security personnel killed in Taliban Attack in Jawzjan

Kabul/UNI:  At least 12 members of its security forces were killed in a violent confrontation with the Taliban, Afghan government confirmed on Wednesday.

The attack took place at the northern Jawzjan province on Tuesday night.

Tolonews agency quoted a spokesman from the provincial governor's office saying that the Taliban attacked two security checkpoints in Aqcha district of Jawzjan province.

The official also confirmed the deaths of 12 Taliban fighters in the incident and said that 10 other Talibs were wounded in the clashes.

He conceded that the Taliban have taken four security force personnel captive and stole a vehicle of the security forces as well.

The Taliban is yet to issue a statement regarding the attack.
