The egg instagram account officially breaks Kylie Jenner's most-liked photo record

The speckled brown egg heard 'round the world is now the most-liked photo on Instagram following an instantly viral campaign over the weekend.

Originally posted on January 5 2019, by the account world_record_egg, the simple photo of an egg on a plain, white background has surpassed  the 18.1 million "likes" required to steal the record from Kylie's photo of her newborn daughter Stormi.

The first photo of Jenner's newborn daughter, posted on Feb. 6, 2018, was the leader until this mysterious challenger appeared.

The photo of the egg only needed to reach 18.1  million likes to best .

By Monday morning, however, it was already up to over 28 million.

Hilariously addressing to the news, Kylie took to Instagram to share a video with her 123 million followers.

Touching the ground and confirming it was hot,  she hen proceeded to crack an egg onto the hot pavement and attempt to fry it in the heat of the sun.

"Take that little egg," Kylie teased in the caption to her post.

The account, called Egg Gang, has already updated its Insta bio to reflect the milestone. "Official world record holders of the most liked picture on Instagram," it now reads

Besting the celebrity beauty mogul was the egg account’s sole objective. The photo’s caption makes the yet-to-be-identified account holder’s intentions quite clear.

“Let’s set a world record together and get the most liked post on Instagram,” the caption read. “Beating the current world record held by Kylie Jenner (18 million)!”
