Taipei, Jan 22 (IBNS):  Taiwan's "Bikini Climber" Gigi Wu died from suspected hypothermia after falling down from Yushan national park, media reports said on Tuesday.

She was badly hurt after the fall.

She became popular online for posing in a bikini and taking selfies after reaching top of mountain peaks.

Last Saturday (Jan 19), Wu, 36, used a satellite phone to inform friends about her fall, informing them that she was unable to move her lower limbs, reported The Straits Times.

However, bad weather made it difficult for rescue helicopters to reach the New Taipei City native and her body was located on Monday, 43 hours after her distress call, the newspaper further said.

Why did she start taking selfies in bikinis on mountain tops:

According to media reports, Gigi Wu had started taking selfies in bikinis after she lost a bet to a friend.

The punishment she received was taking pictures in a bikini after hiking up a  mountain. She continued it and soon earned fame on the social media.

Achievement:

In a major achievement, she had once told Taiwanese television channel FTV that in four years she had scaled more than 100 mountains.

Her social media pages were also followed immensely by netizens. She was followed by 18,000 people on Facebook.
