London, Nov 14 (IBNS): In a strange development, the  Irish Aviation Authority has started investigating after receiving reports of sightings of unidentified flying objects and bright lights off the coast of Ireland, media reports said on Wednesday.

The investigation was started after several commercial pilots reported seeing similar sightings.

An IAA spokesperson told Irish Times:  “This report will be investigated under the normal confidential occurrance investigation process.”

The spokesman told the newspaper that it was unlikely to be aliens from another planet.

As per BBC report, It began at 06:47 local time on Friday 9 November when a British Airways pilot contacted Shannon air traffic control.

She wanted to know if there were military exercises in the area because there was something "moving so fast", reported BBC.

However, air traffic controller informed that no such exercises were performed.

A Virgin Airlines pilot of #VS76 from Orlando to Manchester reported seeing the same thing, reported Airlive.
