Saskatchewan Premier invites oil and gas companies to relocate, Alberta takes offence

Calgary, Apr 1 (IBNS): Brad Wall, Premier of Canada's Saskatchewan province, appears to have ruffled his counterpart from Alberta, Rachel Notley, by inviting a few Calgary-based oil and gas firms to relocated to Saskatchewan.

According to reports, Wall has mailed the business houses offering them subsidized relocation costs, taxes and royalties as well as help them find space in unused government buildings.

Local media has quoted Alberta Premier Rachel Notley as saying that she is keeping a tight watch on Saskatchewan premier Brad Wall's  moves to see whether his government is violating the New West Partnership signed between the provinces of Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and British Columbia regarding incentives to the oil and gas industry.

Notley said Wall's plan is short sighted given how much Saskatchewan's economy relies on doing business in Alberta, reported Calgary Metronews.

Refuting the charges levelled by Notley, Brad Wall said that he only notified the business houses the existing policies of the Saskatchewan government and not offered any specific program that would violate the spirit of the provincial trade agreement.
