Russia is attempting to set up base in Syria: US
Washington, Sept 15 (IBNS): The US has said that Russian military is trying to set up a forward operating base in western Syria.
"We have seen indication in recent days that Russia has moved people and things into the area around Latakia, and the airbase there," Pentagon spokesman Capt. Jeff Davis was quoted as saying by CNN.
Latakia is a port city which is located on Syria's Mediterranean coast.
It is controlled by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's forces.
