Lahore, Oct 17 (IBNS): The key convict in the rape and murder case of 7-year-old  Zainab Ameen Fatima in Kasur was executed at the Kot Lakhpat Central Jail in Lahore on Wednesday.

The convicted was identified as Imran Ali.

The convict was awarded a death sentence on 21 counts after he was convicted of the rape and murder of at least eight minor girls, including Zainab, reported Geo News.

Zainab's father said he would have been fully satisfied if the convict was hanged in public.

"I have a bit of satisfaction that justice has been delivered but I am not fully satisfied as he was not hanged in public," Zainab's father Ameen Ansari was quoted as saying by Geo News.

The convict met his family members on Tuesday.

Ali had raped and later murdered Zainab Ansari in January, dumping her body in a garbage bin. The incident took place in the city of Kasur.

The death has sparked a massive protest across the nation.

The deed also received widespread condemnation.
