Pakistan surpasses China in Covid-19 cases, tally now over 89,000

Islamabad/IBNS: With a record 4,688 fresh cases reported in 24 hours between Wednesday and Thursday, Pakistan surpassed China, the epicentre of the pandemic Coronavirus, in terms of Covid-19 cases.

In the next 24 hours between Thursday and Friday, Pakistan registered another 4,000 cases to take the tally to 89,249, as per John Hopkins University & Medicine.

The number of infections in China now stand at 84,171.

China is placed at the 18th position, one step behind the South Asian country of Pakistan.

The contagion, which first broke out in China's Wuhan late last year, has infected 66,51,047 people across the world with the United States getting affected the most.

US still tops the list of Covid cases with 18,72,660 positive cases followed by Brazil and Russia.

Pakistan's neighbour India now ranks seventh with 2,27,029 cases.
