Pakistan: Suicide attack kills five

Rawalpindi, June 4 (IBNS): At least five people were killed as security forces vehicle was target by a suicide attacker in Pakistan's Tarnol area on Wednesday, officials said.

Two officers were killed in the attack.

Pakistan's Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement: "Namze Janaza of Colonel Muhammad Zahir and Colonel Arshad Hussain Shaheed, who embraced Shahadat today in a suicide attack near Tarnol, Rawalpindi, was offered this afternoon at Chaklala Garrison. It may be mentioned that the two officers and three civilians embraced shahadat when a suicide bomber hit security forces vehicle early this morning."

Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Defence Mnister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, General Rashad Mehmood Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, large number of military personnel from three services and people from all walks of life attended the funeral prayers.

"Later, bodies of Shaheed Colonel Muhammad Zahir and Colonel Arshad Hussain were sent to their ancestral towns where they will be buried with full military honour," ISPR said.
