Pakistan: Qadri supporters ransack Islamabad, at least 16 civilians injured

Islamabad, Mar 28 (IBNS) At least 16 civilians were injured in Pakistan's capital Islamabad, as the Police clashed with Mumtaz Qadri's supporters on Monday, according to reports.

Thousands of supporters of the late Mumtaz Qadri, who was hanged last month in Rawalpindi, following his rejected plea by the Pak President, clashed with the Police and Army, as the angry mob set ablaze country's China Chowk Metro Station,Geo News reported.

Qadri was found guilty of assassinating former Punjab Governor Salman Taseer.

The police reportedly fired round of tear gas shell. 42 security officials were also said to have incurred injury in the following clash.

The mobile services in the country's capital have been blocked, while the police have asked the citizens to stay away from the area.
