Pakistan PM Imran Khan concerned over growing COVID-19 cases
Islamabad/UNI: Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday showed concern on the spike in Coronavirus cases across the country, urging opposition parties to avoid public rallies to stop the pandemic.
According to the latest official data released Sunday morning, a total of 2,665 fresh COVID-19 cases were recorded with 59 deaths in Pakistan during the last 24 hours.
The death toll in the country has now reached 7,662 while active cases are now 36,683, according to figures released by the health ministry.

"Pakistan's second COVID-19 spike data is of concern: Increase in Covid patients on ventilators in the last 15 days," the prime minister tweeted.
"Across the world there is a second spike & complete lockdowns in most countries," he said, adding that the opposition parties' rally would endanger lives and livelihoods.
Opposition is callously destroying people"s lives & livelihoods in their desperation to get an NRO. Let me make it clear: they can hold a million jalsas but will not get any NRO.

"If cases continue to rise at the rate we are seeing, we will be compelled to go into complete lockdown," Khan said in a series of tweets.
The prime minister said that he does not want to re-impose lockdown which would hurt the country's economy with signs of recovery.
Earlier, the prime minister had announced cancellation of the government's plan to hold public gatherings due to the second wave of the COVID-19 in Pakistan.
