Pakistan: Lt Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa succeeds Raheel Sharif as Army Chief

Islamabad, Nov 26 (IBNS): Lieutenant General Qamar Javed Bajwa has been named the new Chief of the Pakistani Army, state media reported.

"A career infantry officer belonging to the Baloch Regiment, Lt Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa has been appointed as the new COAS, while Lt Gen Zubair Hayat has been appointed the CJCSC," a Dawn News report read.

Both Bajwa and Hayat will resume their new post from Tuesday.

They will both be promoted to the rank of four-star generals, the report added.
