Pakistan: Lift mishap kills six in Karachi

Karachi, Mar 9 (IBNS): A trolley lift dropped in an under-construction building in Pakistan's Karachi city and left at last six people killed, media reports said.

The deceased are all labourers.

Police told Geo News the labourers were standing in the lift and installing glass sheets when it fell all of a sudden. 

Five people died on the spot.

Three bodies were taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre and two to Civil Hospital, rescue officials told Geo News.

The sixth labourer died in a hospital later.

As per Geo News report, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has taken notice of the incident and sought a report from Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Ali Shalwani.

The area has been cordoned off after the incident.

The building has been sealed by the District Commissioner's department, reports said.
