Pakistan: Cleric held on charge of molesting student

Rawalpindi, Sept 21 (IBNS): Police have arrested a cleric for alleged sexually molesting a madrassah student in Dhamial area of Pakistan, media reports said on Saturday.

The arrest was made the medical examination of the minor.

Police told Dawn News after the incident was brought to the notice of CPO Mohammad Faisal Rana, he directed SP Saddar Rai Mazhar Iqbal to take action against the suspect after conducting a medical examination of the child.

After medical examination proved that the child had been abused, the suspect was taken into custody, reported the newspaper.

Police have also decided to conduct a DNA test.

On the basis of a complaint by the victim's father, police have resgistered a case.

SP Iqbal told Dawn News: “All measures will be taken to investigate the case on merit, including conducting a DNA test and other legal formalities.”
