Islamabad: At least three people were killed and 13 others injured on Monday in a collision between a van and a truck in Mandi Bahauddin district of Pakistan's eastern Punjab province, the rescue service reported.

The accident reportedly occurred early morning on Gujrat road in the district when one of the vehicles was making a U-turn, resulting in the death of three people, including two women, on the spot.

The rescue service reached the site immediately after the accident and shifted the victims to the hospital, said the rescue service.

Road accidents frequently occur in Pakistan mainly due to poorly maintained vehicles, dilapidated roads, and negligence of road safety measures.\
