New York bombing: Suspect captured

New York, Sept 20 (IBNS): The key suspect in the New York bombing incident was captured by the police on Monday, officials said.

The person has been identified as Ahmad Khan Rahami.

According to BBC report, Ahmad Khan Rahami, 28, is undergoing surgery for a gunshot wound.

He was reportedly taken into custody after a shootout with the police.

James P. O'Neill, Commissioner of the New York City Police Department, tweeted: "Thanks to alert area residents and dedicated law enforcement officers. Now...our investigation continues. Call TIPS line w/ any information."

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio tweeted: "The suspect is in custody. Thank you to our first responders who have performed with extraordinary skill and courage over the past two days."

At least 29 people were injured in an explosion at Chelsea neighborhood of New York city in the US on Saturday, officials said.
