Meghan Markle gives birth to baby boy

London, May 6 (IBNS): Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle and Prince Harry of the UK became parents of a baby boy on Monday morning.

The baby, who weighed 7lbs 3oz at birth, was born at 5:26am local time.

The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, was present for the birth.

"The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer have been informed and are delighted with the news," a statement from the UK royal family said.

Meghan's mother Doria Ragland, "who is overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild", is with Meghan and Harry at Frogmore Cottage, where the family lives.

Both mother and child are doing well, the statement added.

This is Harry and Meghan's first child and he is seventh in line to the British throne.
