Vancouver, Nov 8 (IBNS): A 25-year old man has been charged with murder in the double homicide  of a Vancouver couple, media reports said.

Diana Mah-Jones (65) and Richard Jones (68) were killed at their Marpole home this fall.

Rocky Rambo Wei Nam Kam has been charged with the second degree murder of the couple.

Kam, who appeared in Vancouver court on Tuesday, has been taken into the custody till Nov. 14.

The dead bodies of the senior couple were discovered on Sep. 27.

Police said the killing was "random".

Mah-Jones was an award-winning therapist and also an experinced member in a dance group. She had worked for 35 years with Vancouver Coastal Health.

One of Mah-Jones' friends, Jan Kainer said she was relived after hearing about the murder charges laid out against the 25-year old man.

In an interaction with CBC News, Kainer said: "For our group, it's been very difficult."

"We're sad and we're some of us scared, and just so upset to think that something like that could happen to anybody.," she added.

Kainer said she had last seen Mah-Jones when the latter was rehearsing for one of her upcoming performances.
