London Bridge stabbing leaves 2 dead, police treat incident as 'terror-related'

The police have shot a man and the entire area including the bridge has been locked down.

According to lastest reports by BBC, two people were killed in the attack.

London's Metropolitan Police informed that their officials are treating the incident "as though it is terror-related."

"At this stage, the circumstances relating to the incident at #LondonBridge remain unclear. However, as a precaution, we are currently responding to this incident as though it is terror-related. One man has been shot by police. We will provide further information when possible."

They have also urged netizens to refrain themselves from circulating images of the same.

According to a BBC reporter, who was present at the spot, there was a fight on the bridge, with several men attacking one man.

Police then arrived quickly and a number of shots were fired at the man, he said.

The incident took place on Friday afternoon just hours before city workers end their work and head to the station for their train home.

London Bridge is one of the capital city's main transport hubs with thousands of commuters travelling through it daily.

Reacting to the incident, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson tweeted that he wants to thank all emergency services for their quick response.

"I’m being kept updated on the incident at London Bridge and want to thank the police and all emergency services for their immediate response," Johnson posted.

Home Secretary Priti Patel took to Twitter to share that she was "very concerned" over the incident.

"Very concerned by ongoing incident at London Bridge. My thoughts are with all affected. I am grateful for the rapid response of our police and I urge everyone to follow their advice," she wrote.
