Landslides kill over 60 in Bangladesh

Dhaka, June 13 (IBNS): Landslides in south-east Bangladesh have claimed over 60 lives so far, media reports said on Tuesday.

Heavy monsoon rains have triggered the landslides in the Asian nation.

As per media reports, four members of Bangladesh Army were also killed in the tragedy.

Rescue operation is currently going on.

However, bad weather has hit the operation.

Telecommunication links and electricity have been cut off in several areas hit by landslides.

Twenty-three people were killed in Chittagong while 35 in Rangamati and seven in Bandarban, The Daily Star reported.

According to reports, Rangamati district has been badly hit by the landslides. At least 35 people have been killed in the area.
