Kabul: American University attacked, 1 killed

Kabul, Aug 24 (IBNS): A group of militants attacked American University in Afghanistan's capital Kabul on Wednesday which left at least one person dead and 14 others injured, media reports said.

"The attack was launched after the militants detonated a Vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) near the university compound with the remaining militants starting gun attack," Afghanistan's Khaama Press reported

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.

Official Twitter for U.S. Department of State Bureau of Consular Affairs posted: ".@USEmbassyKabul advises US citizens to avoid area near American University of Afghanistan #AUAF #Kabul #Afghanistan."
