Indian-American FBI Director Kash Patel has said that 'justice will be done' following the arrest of the gangster Harpreet Singh, alias Happy Passia, who is allegedly responsible for multiple terror attacks in Punjab.

Passia was arrested in the USA on Friday.

Happy was arrested in California's Sacramento.

The gangster, who had entered the US illegally, used burner phones to evade arrest.

Reacting to his arrest, FBI chief wrote on X: "CAPTURED: HARPREET SINGH, part of an alleged foreign terrorist gang here illegally in the United States, who we believe was involved in planning multiple attacks on police stations both in India and the United States."

"@FBISacramento  conducted the investigation coordinating with our partners locally as well as in India," he said.

"Excellent work from all, and justice will be done. The FBI will continue finding those who perpetrate violence — no matter where they are," Patel said.

17 Criminal Cases

As per the Punjab Police, Happy is wanted in as many as 17 criminal cases.

NIA Named Him In Chargesheet

The National Investigation Agency or NIA named him recently in a chargesheet related to the 2024 grenade attack in Punjab's Chandigarh.

Pakistan Connection

Happy from the US and Pakistan-based terrorist Harwinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda were responsible for the grenade attack, NIA said.

The two provided logistical aids, terror funds, weapons and ammunition to the ground operators in Punjab.

The attack was hurled on a house which was assumed to be occupied by a retired Punjab police officer.

ISI

As per a report by Hindustan Times, the Punjab Police busted a terror module backed by Pakistan-ISI and run by Happy and another operative named as Shamsher alias Honey.

Five, including the mastermind Abhijot Singh, were arrested in the case over grenade attacks on police establishments in Batala and Gurdaspur.
