Islamic State leader killed in Afghanistan

Kabul, Nov 25 (IBNS): The Afghanistan military said a spokesperson of the terrorist group ISIS has been killed during an operation in the Haska Mena district of eastern Nangarhar province of the country, media reports said on Sunday.

The alleged IS-Khorasan region spokesperson identified as Sharafat Shafiq was killed during a joint security operation in the district, the Afghan National Army’s 201stSelab Military Corps said in a statement as reported by Afghanistan's Pajhwok Afghan News.

As per the report published by the Afghanistan-based news agency, the statement said Shafiq was playing an important role in finding recruits and spreading the group’s propaganda throughout Afghanistan.

The group has not commented on the matter so far.
