Baghdad, May 7 (Xinhua/UNI) Iraq on Tuesday strongly condemned a Taliban attack against military posts in Afghanistan's western province of Farah.

"Iraq strongly condemns the terrorist attack of Taliban gangs against a security headquarters in Afghanistan's western province of Farah," said Ahmed al-Sahaf, spokesman of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, in a ministry statement.

"Iraq affirms its stance to reject terrorism, and stands with the international community in confronting terrorism, and supports all good efforts aimed at eliminating extremism and violence," the statement said.

Iraq also "supports the efforts of the Afghan government and its measures to maintain the security and stability of the country," it added.

A day earlier, Afghan officials said Taliban militants launched overnight attacks on army posts in Farah, killing at least 13 soldiers and wounding 12 others.
