Tehran/IBNS: Several mourners died due to a stampede on Tuesday that occurred during a funeral procession in the city of Kerman for Iranian elite Quds Force Qasem Soleimani in US airstrike, media reports said.

BBC put the death toll figure at 30.

The stampede also left several people hurt.

Qasem Soleimani is being laid to rest in his hometown with millions already estimated to have packed the streets for funeral processions, reported BBC.

Relationship between Iran and the US has touched new low following the killing of Soleimani on Friday.

Soleimani was considered as the second most powerful man in Iran after the country's Supreme Leader Khamenei.

Iran vowed harsh revenge over the general's killing.
