Kashmore/Pakistan: In two separate incidents of vandalism targeted Hindu places of worship in Sindh province, Pakistan, raising alarm among the affected communities and human rights advocates.

The first incident occurred in Karachi, where the historic Mari Mata Temple in Soldier Bazaar was demolished overnight, leaving the outer walls and main gate intact.

The second incident took place in Kashmore, where a gang of dacoits attacked a temple and adjoining homes belonging to Hindus using firearms, including reported "rocket launchers." Thankfully, no casualties were reported in either incident as the temple in Kashmore was closed at the time of the attack, reported The Dawn.

Following the attacks, law enforcement authorities swiftly responded to the scene in Kashmore. Kashmore-Kandhkot SSP Irfan Sammo confirmed the use of rocket launchers and revealed that a search operation was initiated to locate the fleeing suspects, believed to be eight to nine gunmen, reported ANI.

Suresh, a member of the Bagri community, expressed relief that the rocket launchers failed to detonate, averting potential loss of life. However, the incidents have instilled fear and panic among the affected communities.

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) expressed deep concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Kashmore and Ghotki districts of Sindh.

They reported that approximately 30 members of the Hindu community, including women and children, were allegedly being held hostage by organized criminal gangs in the region.

The HRCP further noted that these gangs had issued threats to attack other Hindu sites of worship, utilizing high-grade weaponry.

In response to the grave situation, the HRCP called upon the Sindh Home Department to conduct an immediate investigation into the matter.

The incidents have underscored the need for enhanced security measures to protect religious minority communities in the region and to ensure their safety and fundamental rights.

As investigations continue, concerned individuals and organizations urge authorities to address the deteriorating law and order situation promptly, holding the culprits accountable and restoring a sense of security for all citizens regardless of their religious affiliations.
