Hefazat-e-Islam B'desh organises rally against display of caricatures of Prophet Muhammad in France

Dhaka/UNI: Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh is holding a rally in the area of National Mosque Baitul Mukarram to protest the display of caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad in France.

Hefazat leaders, activists and supporters started gathering in front of South Plaza of Baitul Mukarram in Paltan from 1100 hrs on Monday. Earlier, they started gathering here from different parts of the country from 0600 hrs.

At 1100 hrs, Baitul Mukarram and the surrounding area became crowded. The road from Vijayanagar, Press Club to Paltan, Gulistan was closed. A large number of police have been deployed in the surrounding area.

Hefazat leaders at the rally demanded that the Prime Minister bring a statewide condemnation and hate motion against the French statement.

They also demanded a boycott of French goods and closure of the French embassy in Bangladesh. Hefazat activists are expected to surround the French embassy in Gulshan after the rally.
