Heavy rains kill 57 in NW Pakistan, PoK

Peshawar, Apr 4 (IBNS): Torrential rains which has hit Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan areas left at least 57 people dead.

Several others have been injured in the areas where normal life has been badly hit due to the rains.

"A number of houses were also damaged and bridges swept away by flood water in different parts of the province," Geo News reported.

In Gilgit Baltistan, communication link has been disconnected.

Karakorum Highway between Gilgit and Chilas has been damaged due to  landsliding.

Public holiday in educational institutions in all districts of Gilgit-Baltistan has been announced by officials on Monday, reports said.
