Karachi, Apr 11 (IBNS): In a bizarre incident, an explosive device, which was presented as case property in Karachi anti-terrorism court, blew up on Monday, leaving five people injured, media reports said.

The injured person included  a judge.

Dr Jameel Ahmed, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South zone, later claimed that it was a detonator and not a grenade which caused the explosion, Geo News reported.

Before the explosion inside the court, Abid Ansari, investigating officer of Sindh Police from Kalakot station,  presented the  explosive device as case property.

Eyewitnesses was quoted as saying by Geo News that a court clerk opened the box carrying the device which exploded inside the courtroom.
The injured were rushed to hospital for treatment.

The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) later reached the spot to investigate into the matter.
