Former Pakistani diplomats shock by calling for armed uprising in Kashmir on live TV show

Islamabad, Aug 21: In a shocking video that has been circulating on the social media, Pakistani diplomats participating in a TV discussion show were seen openly calling for support for armed resistance by the people of Kashmir in the wake of the recent scrapping of Article 370 by the Indian government.

In a live television show, the three Pakistani diplomats could be heard saying jointly that the world must support the armed resistance by people in Kashmir.

Hamid Mir shared a clip of the programme on his Twitter handle where ex-Pakistan's ambassador to the United States Ashraf Jehangir Qazi could be heard saying said that picking up guns is "justified" during armed struggle.

"It is legitimate for people of Jammu and Kashmir to take up armed resistance or guns. In case, they demand help from other countries for their legitimate jihad, that too is legitimate," Qazi was quoted as saying.

Ex-Pakistani envoy to India Basit was quoted as saying: "Under international law it is the responsibility of other nations to help Kashmiris in their struggle against the occupation of Jammu and Kashmir."

"Three former ambassadors Ashraf Jahangir Qazi,Abdul Basit and Shahid Malik agreed on a point that whole world must support armed resistance of Kashmiris because it is legitimate according to the international law," Mir tweeted.

Ashraf Jehangir Qazi, Abdul Basit, and Shahid Malik, all former diplomats, were speaking in the show.

The Indianl government withdrew the special status of Jammu and Kashmir by scrapping Articles 370 and 35A this month.

The Narendra Modi government also took away the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated it into two Union Territories- Jammu and Kashmir with an assembly and Ladakh without an assembly.

Jammu and Kashmir is still under Section 144 which was imposed by the Modi government prior to taking the major step in the valley.

Two former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Ministers- Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti- have been kept under detention. Reports claimed Abdullah and Mufti were allowed to offer prayers.
