He said quality sample checking of the fuel is currently underway.

The Sri Lankan minister said the second ship carrying diesel will also arrive later today and the similar procedure will follow before unloading and distribution could commence.

"1st Diesel cargo consignment arrived early this morning in Colombo & the quality sample checking is underway. The 2nd Diesel cargo will arrive later today and will follow the same procedure. 1st Petrol Cargo due to arrive 18-19th as of now. Payments completed for all 3," he tweeted.

Sri Lanka is witnessing a massive fuel shortage for the past several months.
