Yangon, Mar 23 (Xinhua/UNI) An ethnic insurgent group, the Arakan Army (AA), continued to attack a column of the Myanmar armed forces conducting security operation in Yathedaung township, Rakhine state over the last two days, said a release from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the defense Services on Saturday.

Using small and heavy weapons, the 150-strong AA group launched the attack on the military column from five positions north of Setaung village on Thursday night, leaving two from the government troops injured.

The military column fought back the AA group and continued security operation.

In a separate incident earlier on Wednesday, two masked men from the AA raided a civilian house in Myebon township of the state, killing a villager who was asleep.

On Monday, the AA insurgent attacked a military convoy carrying out security operation and a local district police office in Mrauk U township, Rakhine state from inside civilian houses.
