Epstein emails, celebrity names and Deepak Chopra: Why the spiritual guru is facing tough questions

| @indiablooms | Feb 07, 2026, at 10:21 pm

The continuing release of documents linked to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein has brought another prominent name under scrutiny — Deepak Chopra.

The Indian-American author and globally recognised spiritual teacher now finds himself at the centre of an online debate after a CNN report detailed his appearance in newly released Epstein-related communications.

While the documents do not accuse Chopra of criminal conduct, their contents have reignited questions about judgment, associations, and the reputational cost of proximity to Epstein’s sprawling social network.

The renewed attention has prompted Chopra to issue a public clarification as discussions ripple across social media.

Who is Deepak Chopra?

Deepak Chopra is among the most influential figures in modern spirituality and wellness.

According to his publisher HarperCollins, he is the founder of the Chopra Centre for Wellbeing and is widely regarded as a key interpreter of Eastern philosophy for Western audiences.

Over the decades, Chopra has authored more than sixty books, including several New York Times bestsellers such as Buddha and God.

His work spans mindfulness, holistic health, meditation, and consciousness, building a global brand rooted in ethical living and self-awareness.

Epstein files and their widening net

The controversy stems from the gradual release of millions of pages tied to investigations into Jeffrey Epstein.

Epstein pleaded guilty in 2008 to procuring a minor for prostitution and was later charged in 2019 with federal sex trafficking offences before dying in custody.

These documents have mapped Epstein’s extensive circle of contacts across business, politics, academia, and entertainment.

Although the presence of a name does not imply wrongdoing, each revelation has intensified public scrutiny of those who crossed paths with him.

What the documents say about Chopra

According to CNN’s report, Chopra’s name appears in multiple email exchanges with Epstein.

Emails reveal a pattern of casual—and at times explicitly worded—exchanges between the two men.

In one thread, Chopra, an AIIMS alumnus, engaged in a discussion about “cute girls” with Epstein.

One email sent to the convicted sex trafficker read, “Did you find me a cute Israeli?”

In another conversation from 2017, Chopra wrote, “The universe is a human construct. No such thing. Cute girls are aware when they make noises.”

Epstein followed up by asking, “So when the girl says ‘oh my god?'” to which Chopra replied, “God is a construct. Cute girls are real.”

A separate email from Chopra to Epstein, portions of which are now widely circulating on social media, states, “What do I enjoy most? My biological needs are met occasionally, but that too — it seems I've been there / done that.”

In the same correspondence, Chopra spoke about preferring the company of “younger, intellectually sharp and self-aware women,” adding that he enjoyed interacting with them in ways meant “to inspire and stimulate them.”

In one 2016 message, Epstein asked Chopra whether actor Leonardo DiCaprio “would want to have dinner with Woody,” referencing filmmaker Woody Allen.

Chopra reportedly responded that he could ask if DiCaprio was available.

The report also notes frequent correspondence between Chopra and Epstein, including exchanges of news articles and discussions around potential meetings.

One proposed 2017 dinner was said to include Epstein, Woody Allen, and a Slovakian foreign minister, though Chopra did not attend.

Another exchange from 2016 reportedly mentioned Donald Trump’s former wife, Marla Maples.

Alongside these documented interactions, unverified claims circulating on social media allege the existence of sensational emails attributed to Chopra.

These assertions remain unsubstantiated and have not been independently confirmed.

Chopra’s public response

In response to the renewed attention, Chopra addressed the issue publicly on X.

He said he was “deeply saddened by the suffering of the victims” and strongly condemned abuse and exploitation in all forms.

Chopra stated clearly that he was never involved in any criminal or exploitative conduct and that any contact with Epstein was limited and unrelated to abuse.

He acknowledged that some past email exchanges reflected poor judgment in tone and expressed regret over how those communications appear today, given what is now known about Epstein.

Chopra is among dozens of high-profile figures whose names have emerged from the Epstein files.
