Court hands over death to former Bangladesh lawmaker Shakhawat Hossain

Dhaka, Aug 10 (IBNS): The International Crimes Tribunal-1 on Wednesday handed death to former lawmaker of Bangladesh Shakhawat Hossain over crimes committed against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.

Seven others were handed life imprisonment for crime.

"The International Crimes Tribunal-1 led by Justice Anwarul Haque passed the order after Shakhawat and Billal Hossain Biswas were produced before the court around 10:45am," The Daily Star reported.

Apart from  Shakhawat Hossain, seven others are Ibrahim Hossain, Mujibur Rahman, Kazi Ohidul Islam, Aziz Sardar, Aziz Sardar and Abdul Khaleq Morol.

Except Shakhawat and Billal Hossain Biswas, all other accussed are currently on the run.
