Bangladesh: Schools to remain shut due to COVID-19 till Aug 31

Dhaka: Amid growing COVID-19 infection across Bangladesh, the country's administration has extended closing down of schools and other educational institutions till Aug 31.

"The ongoing holiday for educational institutions has been extended to Aug 31. All kinds of educational institutions across the country will remain closed until then," the education ministry was quoted as saying in a statement by bdnews24.

After COVID-19 cases were reported, the government had announced to shut down all schools and educational institutions in the country on Mar 17.

Ending the 66-day lockdown, the government reopened partially offices and public transports on May 31.
