Bangladesh: Police, BNP clash in Dhaka, one die

Dhaka: A man died as Pakistan's major opposition party Bangladesh Nationalist Party members clashed with the police in Dhaka city on Wednesday.

The clash occurred in the Naya Paltan area.

Several people were brought to Dhaka Medical College Hospital from the Naya Paltan area following the clashes, Inspector Bachchu Miah, chief of the hospital’s police outpost, told bdnews24.

“Doctors say one of them, 30-year-old Akbar, has died," he said.

He had a bullet wound on his body, the inspector said.

Three people were injured in the incident.

They were identified as Rony, Monir and Iqbal.

The injured people were shifted to hospital for treatment.

Traffic movement in the region was disrupted due to the clash.

A large number of police personnel are currently present in the area.
