Bangladesh: Indigenous woman gang-raped in Ashulia

Dhaka, Aug 18 (IBNS): An indigenous woman has been allegedly gangraped by three men in Bangladesh's Ashulia area, media reports said.

The husband of the woman was reportedly kept in captivity, reports said.

The incident took place at her house in the Natunpara neighbourhood in the Vendabar area on Tuesday, reported Dhaka Tribune.

The victim filed a case in connection with the incident in Ashulia police station.

One of the accused person's has been arrested.

However, two others - Joy and Shamim - managed to flee and are still absconding, reported Dhaka Tribune.

Police sources and the survivors' family told Dhaka Tribune, the indigenous family often prepares local alcohol for their own consumption. Three men went to their home after learning about this, and tried to extort money from the family.

Ashulia Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Fajukul told the newspaper: "A young man named Rony was arrested in this connection. We are still continuing our attempts to apprehend the other culprits."
