Bangladesh: Eight people killed in road mishap

Dhaka, Aug 2 (IBNS): At least eight people were killed when two buses collided in Bangladesh's Thakurgaon area, media reports said on Friday.

The accident took place on the Thakurgaon-Dhaka Highway in Jagannathpur Union around 8:30am on Friday, Ashikur Rahman, chief of the Sadar Police Station told bdnews24.

The mishap reportedly left 20 others hurt.

“The bus operated by Dipjol Enterprise was travelling from Dhaka to Thakurgaon,” OC Rahman told the newsportal.

“On the way it crashed head-on into another bus operated by Nishat Enterprise from Baliadangi to Dinajpur, killing five passengers on the scene," he said.

The injured people were rushed to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital.

Two people succumbed to their injury there.

“Each family will receive Tk 10,000 to complete the burial after the bodies are identified,” Deputy Commissioner KM Kamruzzaman Selim, after visiting the scene told bdnews24.
