American University attack: Narendra Modi condemns

New Delhi, Aug 25 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday condemned the attack at the American University of Afghanistan in Dar-ul-Aman locality of capital Kabul on Wednesday.


"We strongly condemn the attack on American University in Kabul. Condolences to the bereaved families & prayers with the injured" Modi tweeted.

At least one person has been killed and 25 others were injured as gunmen attacked with guns and bombs at the American University of Afghanistan in Dar-ul-Aman locality of capital Kabul on Wednesday, media reports said.

The incident, which began at around 7 pm local time, triggered massive panic among the faculty and the staff present in the campus.

"The attack began at around 7:00pm when a suicide bomber ploughed his explosives-laden car into the university’s wall, paving the way for other gunmen to enter inside,"Pajhwok Afghan News reported.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Afghanistan security forces have reportedly killed two gunmen.

Emergency Hospital tweeted: "@emergency_ong hospital has opened mass casualties procedures for the wounded of #AmericanUniversity attack, #Kabul."
