American travel ban: Demonstrations planned in Ottawa

Toronto, Jan 30 (IBNS): Demonstrations have been planned in Ottawa at noon on Monday to protest against executive order of U.S. President Donald Trump to authorize travel ban on citizens from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen, media reports said.

On Friday, U.S. Donald Trump signed an executive order to authorize a 90-day travel ban on citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries.

The move has sparked protests around the United States and demonstrations has also been planned in outside The U.S. Embassy/Consulate Ottawa at noon.

The U.S. Embassy/Consulate in Ottawa is located at 490 Sussex Drive, Ottawa, Ontario, K1N 1G8.

The U.S. Embassy in Ottawa posted a security message on its website on Sunday, advising U.S. citizens to exercise caution in the area around the embassy, where the protest is scheduled to take place.

Protests have also been planned outside The U.S. Consulate General in Toronto

The U.S. Consulate General in Toronto located at 360 University Ave, Toronto, Ontario, M5G 1S4 has also planned protest outside the University Avenue building.

The demonstration, which is set to begin at 8 a.m. Monday morning, has been organized in protest of an American travel ban on citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries.

“RCMP and local police will provide uniformed police to monitor the event,” the statement read, CTVNews Reports said.
