Kabul, Apr 13 (IBNS): At least 10 security officials have been killed in a Taliban attack in Herat province of Afghanistan, local media reports said.

The incident took place on Thursday night at the province's Shindand district.

Confirming the report, Shindand District Governor Shukrullah Shaker said the attack took place in Larzanak area of the district.

Shaker said that a number of officials were killed after a Public Order Police vehicle stepped on a roadside mine. The militants also shelled rockets on the soldiers, killing them.

However, Tolo News quoted sources as saying that the death toll was more than 10.

The Taliban has not yet commented on the report so far.

Earlier this week, at least six people were killed in the same district after a explosive laden cart was detonated by militants.
