Afghanistan: Logar flood leaves 20 people dead

Kabul: At least 20 people, including children and women, died as flood ravaged Khoshi district of Logar province of Afghanistan, media reports said on Monday.

The casualties included nine children, nine women and two men, reports Tolo News.

The provincial officials told the news portal that thousands of acres of agricultural land and hundreds of residences have been destroyed.  

“Due to these floods, 20 people have been killed and 32 others wounded. Four people have disappeared and around 3,000 residences were destroyed,” Provincial Governor Mawlawi Enayatullah Shoja told Tolo News.

The flood reportedly hit the region at midnight when everyone was sleeping.

“Around 3:00 yesterday evening, the residents witnessed a flood. The floods destroyed many residences,” Tali Mohammad, a flood affected person, told Tolo News.  

“Our house is completely destroyed. We call on the in charges to provide us with assistance,” said Nabiullah a flood affected person.
