Islamabad, Mar 7 (IBNS): At least 16 people were killed as a suicide bomber hit the gates of a local court building in Shabqadar tehsil of Charsadda district in northwestern Pakistan on Monday, media reports said.

The attack left 20 others injured.

“Policemen were deployed here for security duty. The bomber tried to force himself inside the court. He had a weapon and fired shots before blowing up his explosives,” DIG Saeed Wazir was quoted as saying by Geo News.

He said five police constables were injured.

Security officials reached the spot following the attack.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has condemned Monday's attack, reports said.
