Jalandhar Hosts EgyptAir Roadshow Celebrating Travel, Trade and Cultural Ties

Jalandhar, Punjab-Timed with the festive spirit of Baisakhi, EgyptAir hosted a thoughtfully curated showcase and networking evening in Jalandhar on April 10, 2026, bringing together leading travel trade partners from across Punjab. More than a routine industry gathering, the evening was designed around dialogue, appreciation and stronger market alignment.

Over 100 stakeholders from Punjab’s travel and tourism ecosystem attended the event, which reflected the airline’s intent to celebrate its longstanding association with the state while acknowledging the travel partners who have contributed significantly to its growth story in the region.

The evening was led by Amr Aly, Country Manager, EgyptAir, who was on a seven-day multi-city visit across Punjab, accompanied by Rajat Chadha, Sales Manager overseeing Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Amritsar. The visit forms part of a focused outreach to deepen trade relationships, engage directly with partners, outline future growth plans and further strengthen the airline’s presence in one of North India’s steadily expanding outbound travel markets.

Speaking during the visit, Mr Amr Aly said: “ It was important for us to be here, on the ground, engaging directly with our partners across Punjab. This market has consistently contributed to our growth, and the strength of that contribution lies in the relationships we’ve built over time.

The Jalandhar engagement, especially a few days before Baisakhi, was our way of acknowledging that partnership, not just through conversations on business, but through presence and appreciation. As we look ahead, we remain committed to strengthening our connection with this market and supporting its evolving travel demand.”

Adding to this, Mr Rajat Chadha, Sales Manager, EgyptAir, shared: “Punjab continues to demonstrate strong and sustained travel demand across leisure, business, and Visiting Friends or Relatives (VFR) segments, making it a strategically important region for EgyptAir’s India operations. In many ways, Punjab is our backbone in North India.

Through this engagement, we’ve highlighted Egypt’s strong and evolving connection with India across multiple dimensions including a relationship that dates back to 1954 with films like Naaz being shot in the country and has since evolved. From iconic films like The Great Gambler and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham to recent projects like Jaadugar by Yo Yo Honey Singh, filmed in Egypt with end-to-end support from the EgyptAir India team.

We also see strong interest driven by Egypt’s expanding tourism infrastructure, including the Grand Egyptian Museum, one of the largest museums in the world, along with our operational agility; from managing time-sensitive movements to recently coordinating a charter for the British cricket team within 24 hours amid regional unrest, working closely with authorities.”

During the event, EgyptAir shared a range of on-ground insights that underscored its approach of going beyond mere connectivity to building deeper cultural, economic and experiential relevance in the Indian market, while positioning Egypt as a multi-dimensional partner to India.

Among the standout highlights of the evening were:  EgyptAir’s passenger-first initiatives, including its Stopover Paid by Carrier (STPC) programme, under which transit travellers with longer layovers are offered complimentary hotel stays—transforming waiting time into meaningful downtime.

Building on this, for tickets issued in April 2026, the airline is also offering a complimentary two-hour Nile River cruise, recasting transit not as idle hours but as a curated first taste of Egypt. The move reinforces the airline’s philosophy: With EgyptAir, your journey doesn’t stop — it begins.

Further adding value, the carrier is also extending a limited-period 30 percent fare benefit on bookings made during the same promotional window.

Equally significant was the spotlight on the emerging Punjab–Egypt economic corridor, particularly in cotton and textiles. With Punjab among India’s strongest cotton-producing regions, and El Mahalla El Kubra widely regarded as the heart of Egypt’s textile industry, the conversation moved beyond commerce to a shared legacy of craftsmanship, scale and global relevance.

The connection carried an added personal note, as Amr Aly hails from El Mahalla El Kubra. That brought both authenticity and depth to the dialogue, while also opening up a compelling narrative around supply-chain synergy and bilateral trade potential.

From competitive yarn sourcing and manufacturing alignment to opportunities for Punjab to deepen its footprint within Egypt’s textile ecosystem, the convergence points to a high-value, future-facing trade opportunity—where scale, quality and pricing strength can drive mutual growth.

Positioned as more than a business conversation, the vision for the partnership was summed up as: Bridging traditions, building prosperity; from Punjab’s fields to Egypt’s textiles; a partnership woven for the future.

With a legacy spanning more than 90 years, EgyptAir’s India strategy today reaches far beyond aviation, extending into tourism, cinema, trade and cultural exchange, with a clear focus on building a more integrated presence in the market.

Speaking with IndiaBlooms during the event, Amr Aly highlighted the fact that EgyptAir has continued operations uninterrupted despite the rapidly evolving geopolitical situation in the Middle East, with many passengers relying on the airline for travel out of the region. He also added that the carrier is now looking to increase frequencies from Delhi and Mumbai in the near future.

Building on this momentum, EgyptAir is set to further strengthen its footprint across India, with a series of upcoming engagements and targeted market initiatives in the pipeline. Further updates are expected to be announced soon.
