New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday hosted T20 World Champions Team India, who returned to the country after their tournament win on July 4, at his residence in the national capital.

In a video released on X, the Prime Minister was seen interacting with the players and support staff in a jubilant mood.

India captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid were seated next to the Prime Minister while other players followed them. All cricketers were wearing the national team jerseys.

Earlier, India captain Rohit Sharma, head coach Rahul Dravid and other players including icon Virat Kohli were seen celebrating with a cake-cutting ceremony at the hotel where they checked in upon reaching the national capital.

They were greeted with a decent crowd as they arrived at the hotel in a bus.

Rishabh Pant, the wicketkeeper-batter, carried the trophy following his colleagues who entered the hotel with their families.

The cricketers' departure from West Indies' Barbados was delayed due to Hurricane Beryl.

Much like the celebrations after India's win at inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007, the cricketers and other staff members will be on a roadshow in an open bus from Nariman Point in Mumbai this evening.

After the roadshow, Team India members will be felicitated at the Wankhede Stadium in the city.

India ended the 11-year ICC trophy drought by winning the T20 World Cup clinching a 7-run victory over South Africa in a match which was swaying away from the men-in-blue at one point of time.
