J&K registers its first win in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Srinagar/IBNS: The J&K senior cricket team bounced back from two defeats to beat table toppers Haryana by seven wickets in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) T20 tournament at the Alembic 2 Cricket Ground, Vadodara Saturday.

After bundling out Haryana for 108 runs total, J&K achieved the target for the loss of three wickets.

Earlier, J&K won the toss and opted to field first.

Haryana lost their first wicket in the fourth over after scoring 19 runs, as pacer Auquib Nabi took CK Bishnoi's wicket.

In the fifth over Mujtaba Yousuf gave J&K a second breakthrough.

Haryana lost the third wicket on the score of 45 with Parvez Rasool getting rid of SR Chauhan.

After that HJ Rana and RP Sharma steadied the Haryana innings taking the score to 82 in 12.3 overs without any further loss.

At that moment, the rising star cricketer from Jammu, Umran Malik, inflicted a collapse in the Haryana innings.

He bagged two wickets in two balls to leave Haryana on 82 for the loss of five wickets at the end of 13 overs.

After that, Haryana kept losing wickets at regular intervals with the whole team bundling out for 108 runs in 19 overs.

For J&K, pacer Umran Malik picked a four-wicket haul, while Parvez Rasool took three.

Mujtaba Yousuf took two wickets and Auquib Nabi secured one.

In reply to the rival team's total, opener Vivrant Sharma's secured some quick runs.

J&K had an opening stand of 36 runs in 3.5 overs due to Sharma's 13 balls 24 run knock.

They overhauled the target in 17 overs for the loss of three wickets and bagged four points from the match to stand at fourth.

J&K is next scheduled to play against Himachal Pradesh on Nov 8.
