Former Indian captain Sachin Tendulkar on Sunday called Asha Bhosle a 'family' and described her demise as a 'deeply sad day' for music lovers across the world.

In his heart-melting post, Tendulkar, wrote on X: "A deeply sad day for India, and for music lovers across the world. "

The Indian batting maestro further said: "For us, Asha Tai was family. Today, words feel too small for the loss we feel. One moment the heart falls silent, and the next, it drifts through the countless melodies she gifted all of us."

He said: "It feels as though time itself has paused. Yet through her eternal songs, she will remain timeless forever."

Tendulkar said: " Thank you, Tai, for filling our lives with warmth, grace, and unforgettable music. We will miss you beyond words, Asha Tai."

Hospitalisation Before Passing

The veteran singer had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on April 11, a day before her demise.

An Eight-Decade Musical Legacy

Born in 1933, Asha Bhosle began her career at just 10 years old, singing for the Marathi film Majha Bal in 1943.

Over an extraordinary career spanning more than eight decades, she became one of India’s most versatile playback singers. Her iconic songs include Piya Tu Ab To Aaja, Kajra Mohabbat Wala, and Dil Cheez Kya Hai.

Initially known for cabaret-style and light numbers, she later earned widespread acclaim for her mastery across genres, including ghazals and classical music.

Her passing marks the end of an era in Indian music, with tributes continuing to pour in from across the country.
