The Hague, June 2 (IBNS): India's campaign in the men's hockey World Cup suffered another jolt as England defeated them 1-2 here on Monday.

Though the Indian players put up a much better show on Monday, their second defeat in the tournment could not be prevented.

Mark Gleghorne’s penalty corner conversion in the 27th minute put England ahead in the match.

India, however, scored the equaliser  through Dharamvir Singh in the 30th minute.

As the match was looking to end as a draw, England won a penalty corner with just more than a minute left for the game to finish.

Simon Mantell di not miss the oppurtunity and India lost their second consecutive game in the tournament.

India had suffered  2-3 defeat at the hands of Belgium in their first match.
