Several Indian cricketers came out in support of pacer Mohammed Shami after he faced online trolls following India's 10-wicket victory against Pakistan in a T20 World Cup match in Dubai on Sunday.

Shami gave away 43 runs for the loss of no wickets in the match.

Former Indian skipper Sachin Tendulkar tweeted, "When we support #TeamIndia, we support every person who represents Team India. @MdShami11 is a committed, world-class bowler. He had an off day like any other sportsperson can have. I stand behind Shami & Team India."

Ex-opener Virender Sehwag said: "The online attack on Mohammad Shami is shocking and we stand by him. He is a champion and Anyone who wears the India cap has India in their hearts far more than any online mob. With you Shami. Agle match mein dikado jalwa."

Harbhajan Singh said, "We love you @MdShami11 #Shami."

Spinner Yuzvendra Chahal tweeted: "We are so proud of you @MdShami11bhaiya."

Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman posted: "Mohammed Shami has been a stellar performer for India for eight years, playing a significant role in many a victory. He can't be defined by one performance. My best wishes are always with him. I urge fans & followers of the game to support @MdShami11 and the Indian team."

Shami put up a strong show in the Indian Premier League recently.

Sunday's match against Pakistan was the opening encounter of India in the ongoing showpiece tournament.

India will next face New Zealand.

This is the first time Pakistan beat India in a World Cup match.

Pakistan and India faced for the first time in a World Cup clash in 1992.

Pakistan's current PM Imran Khan was the skipper of the side during 1992 World Cup.

Imran Khan and his men had won the World Cup that year.
